Mr. Hatchet or Vinz Hatchet is a Dutch musician and songwriter, who sings and plays in Doggy Back Writers.

He created his own home recorded album, This Side Of Heaven, in March 2017, and sang and played most instruments himself, as well as editing and producing, except for solo's and other specialities.
Great influences are Johnny Cash, Neil Young, The Band, Tom Waits, Dawes, Amos Lee, Catherine McLellan, Ron Sexsmith, Ray LaMontagne, Bonnie Prince Billy, a.o.

Vinz started out as a drummer in several bands (a.o. Onakentona and Whipster) since the nineties and only just wrote his first song "Bolted Down" in 2012. The song is about his father who in 2012 died after 7 years of complications due to his paraplegia, caused by a medical failure in hospital after a motorcycle accident. A couple of songs on this album are about this loss, but others are about everyday life with all its fun, beauty, hardships and strife.
